Trans male patient (2012): I’ve had zero problems continuing with him as my dentist through my medical transition. All staff switched seamlessly to my new name despite not having it changed legally yet. Total non-issue. I highly recommend this practice. Old-fashioned (still uses a paper Rolodex) but totally respectful and only interested in my dental health, zero inappropriate concerns or interest in my transition.

Pennsylvania

Dr Ben Gocial
Clinic for Women’s Health
S. 15th St.
Allentown, PA
Dr Gocial works at a women’s health clinic, which should mean that if he does not do gynecological exams himself, he can refer you easily to someone who does.
From http://www.thetransitionalmale.com/endo : ‘From an actual FTM patient: “After an initial interview that included reviewing my medical records and my therapist’s letter and some discussion about my plans and my options, Dr Gocial provided me with a script for T. I have to admit that I was pretty nervous but he put me at ease quickly with a professional and respectful manner. He doesn’t pretend to know it all, and will listen and discuss alternatives without coming across like he’s as the one who makes the decisions. He also makes no objection to my plans to rid myself of what are healthy, but female, organs, and has gone out of his way to help me investigate surgery options. Dr Gocial is one of the good guys.”‘

Our clients come from many different cultural backgrounds and all walks of life. Some come looking for hormones and genital surgery, some feel they are comfortable without either. Our trans health program focuses on helping patients determine their own transition and identity goals.” Payment is on a sliding scale, no therapist letter required to start hormones.
